Dear KIF1A.ORG community,

The last time I wrote a blog post about expanding the team at KIF1A.ORG, I talked about the remarkable growth our community had generated. We needed to build KIF1A.ORG’s capacity to keep that momentum moving forward. A year later, this is even more true today.

Over the last year we have accelerated and expanded research and therapeutic development efforts to find treatments and cures for KIF1A Associated Neurological Disorder. This success is due to the relentless efforts of our families and supporters, and the leadership of KIF1A.ORG’s Chief Science Officer, Dr. Dominique Lessard, and our powerful KIF1A Research Network.

Today we’re launching the search for a Research Engagement Director who will work closely with Dr. Lessard to lead our research engagement and communication strategy and activities. This person will play a significant role in growing and engaging the KIF1A Research Network, which currently includes over 100 researchers, clinicians and industry members who collaborate with KIF1A.ORG. Thanks to a Rare As One grant from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and individual donors who have directed their gifts to this position, we’re able to boost KIF1A.ORG’s capacity with this new role.

If you have scientific, research and/or communications experience and you want to join a community of people driving progress against neurodegenerative disease, learn more about this opportunity on our Jobs page.

Relentlessly,

Kathryn Atchley
President, KIF1A.ORG
