A Note From Collier’s Family
Originally published in 2017
Collier is a stylishly cool and cosmopolitan kid from Queens, NY. Affectionately known as “King Collier,” he’s got the whole world in his hands and boy, does he know it!
Between all his therapy sessions and doctors’ appointments, Collier finds time to swim, ride horses, travel, hang out with friends and family, cheer on his uncle’s college basketball team (Go Queens College Knights!), expand his culinary palette at NYC’s finest family restaurants, and take in a Broadway matinee or two. With his charming personality and winning smile, he also loves to woo ladies of all ages.
After being diagnosed with KIF1A Associated Neurological Disorder a few months ago, Collier refuses to let anyone write his story for him. This is his journey, and #TeamCollier is along for the ride to support him and cheer him on. His determination to succeed despite his limitations is nothing short of heroic. KIF1A’s definitely got nothing on him!
My first experience as a head teacher was a whirlwind. The last thing I expected was to be ROBBED of my heart!! He snatched it right out of my chest with his little smile. He gives THE BEST hugs, and when he blew me his first kiss I think I almost cried! Haha! This kid is truly someone special and Iβm a better person for having known him and his awesome family. #TeamCollier πππ
