Heidi Munoz

United States

From Heidi’s family:
Heidi had KIF1A, a very rare genetic mutation, which was the cause for all her health problems…. cerebral palsy, cortical blindness, and seizure disorder. She didn’t walk and she didn’t talk and she was blind so she missed out on a lot of this life, despite that we always did our best to include her in all activities, fishing, swimming, go carts and train rides, trips to the fair, trick or treating, even driving around to look at Christmas lights. She liked going places and hated being tied down even as a newborn, she wanted to be free. Well, now she’s free. I miss her so very much but I’m happy for her, she’s not in pain or suffering anymore. It was a gift to get to be her mother and I will love her forever. – Kahi, Heidi’s mother
