Join KIF1A.ORG for our first Research Roundtable of 2026! Dr. Luis Alberto Baena-Lopez will discuss his recent work on Caspase-dependent control of KIF1A proteostasis (read the pre-print here).
Dr. Luis Alberto Baena-Lopez is a Senior Research Investigator of Spanish National Research Council (CSIC)’s Center of Molecular Biology in Madrid, Spain. As a drosophila geneticist and developmental biologist, he studies the non-apoptotic roles of caspases in cellular development and homeostasis. Since his work began overlapping with KIF1A biology, he has been working with KAND families in Spain to inform patient-centered research.
