Job Description
KIF1A.ORG is seeking a mission-driven Part-Time Fundraising Coordinator to execute the organization’s fundraising strategy, donor relations, and community engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about rare disease advocacy, skilled in donor communications, and eager to help grow the organization’s impact.
Employment Details
Anticipated Start Date: Flexible
Work Schedule: 15 hours per week; part-time employees should work allotted weekly hours in a typical workweek, but the days and hours worked are up to the employee unless specific events (e.g. scheduled meetings, conferences, etc.) require work at a specified time.
Location: Remote, with limited travel opportunities
Hourly Rate: $31.00 USD per hour, paid biweekly via direct deposit
Employment Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Travel: This role may require occasional domestic and international travel to attend conferences, workshops, and meetings with key stakeholders, including donors, patient families, researchers, and industry partners up to 10% of the time. Necessary and reasonable expenses incurred during work-related travel, including transportation, registration fees, lodging, and per diem will be paid for by KIF1A.ORG
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising and Donor Relations
- Develop and execute annual fundraising campaigns and events (both virtual and in-person).
- Manage donor database, ensuring accurate and timely data entry, acknowledgment, and reporting.
- Lead donor stewardship strategy, including personalized thank-you letters, impact updates, and recognition efforts.
- Conduct prospect research on potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
Campaign Support
- Assist in preparing grant and corporate proposals and reports under the direction of the Executive Director.
- Coordinate online fundraising initiatives (e.g., Giving Tuesday, peer-to-peer campaigns).
- Generate creative materials and bring new approaches for donor outreach, social media, newsletters, and appeals.
Community Engagement and Events
- Support planning and logistics for family and research community events.
- Coordinate with volunteers and family fundraisers to amplify grassroots fundraising efforts.
Qualifications
Possess the skills and experience necessary to carry out assigned responsibilities and a relentless passion for KIF1A.ORG’s mission.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Nonprofit fundraising, development, or communications experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in donor management systems (e.g., Airtable, Salesforce, or similar), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) and fundraising tools (e.g., Classy, Givebutter) a plus.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Passion for KIF1A.ORG’s mission and the rare disease community.
